Jumper is your latest Chinese manufacturer to decide to try its hands in a format that was popularised by Lenovo and its nearly legendary Yoga range. The EZBook x 1 that was sent to us has a specific feature; it is but one of the hardly any convertibles that possess a sub-12-inch screen , a true successor to the once-mighty Net book dynasty.
It’s hard not to think of the 2014 Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga two 1-1 when you have a look at the Jumper EZBook x 1. Both have a 2-hinge design along with also an 11.6-inch touchscreen display. In 27.50 x 18.80 x 1.40 cm to get a burden of only over 1Kg, it is more portable than an A4 writing notepad.
In some areas, the EZBook x 1 is superior. It uses the complete metal chassis with some plastic parts, making it feel a lot more premium compared to the Yoga 2 11. There exists a bevy of ports on the best of the apparatus ( a USB type C connector, micro-usb, micro HDMI), a microSD card slot machine with two side-firing speakers along with 2 microphones.
The remaining side of the EZBook x 1 contains the power button, a sound interface, and a volume rocker. Some may be disappointed by the dearth of full-size connectors but that’s a necessary evil should you wish to connect other peripherals. You need to bring an adaptor (preferably one that can deliver power to your device when attached ) or take cables.
The screen is surrounded by 9mm-thick eyeglasses on three sides with a far thicker bezel at the end, one that houses the Windows home button and also a webcam, similar to our editor’s choice, the Dell XPS 1 3. There is a flap within the notebook that hides usage of a M2.2280 slot occupied with a 64GB Foresee SSD drive.

Hardware and performance
Besides the Intel Gemini Lake CPU used to power that the Jumper x-1, the different noteworthy hardware aspect of this laptop may be the simple fact that it employs an unusual pairing of eMMC storage (64GB) with a 64GB removable solid state drive. Even more unexpected is the fact that the operating system resides on the slower eMMC storage instead of the faster SSD although which will be modified if you understand just how to doit.
Be aware that the Jumper EZBook x 1 has a small USB type c 24W (2A, 12V) power distribution unit which can be used to charge some more recent smartphones. Alternatively, you’re going to have the ability to utilize just about any TypeC connector/charger to bill (or trickle charge) the laptop. We tried with a TypeC cable plugged in to a USB jack out of another notebook and it worked.
The EZBook x 1 is a thoroughly likable notebook. The computer keyboard was surprisingly enjoyable, considering just how small the product actually is. The keys are somewhat smaller than one would expect however they provide with a fantastic return if the important travel is a little too shallow to our liking. The single difficulty we encountered was that the magnitude of the Input key: we’d prefer an inferior right hand side Shift key alternatively.
Given its price that we all were not expecting miracles from the monitor, an 11.6-inch FHD IPS version. It is covered with a non-oleophobic glass panel that adds to the warmth, influencing the display comparison, and makes it hard to use in bright sunlight, particularly because it is a fingerprint magnet and also in spite of the brightness slide pushed to the max.
The EZBook X1 lasted a unsatisfactory 2hr50m when playing with a count up Youtube video with Windows’ best operation setting, maximum brightness and – most of all – preventing the machine from shutting down, dimming or switching off the display. Somehow, Jumper managed to cram a 26.6Whr battery at a very tight space.
Here is the way the Jumper EZBook X1 performed in our package of benchmark tests:
Passmark CPU: 2027
CPU Z: 158 (single-thread); 627 (multi-thread)
Geekbench: 1422 (single-core); 5017 (multi-core); 4274 (computer)
Cinebench: OpenGL: 12.28 fps; CPU: 131
CrystalDiskMark: 20-1 MBps (read); 107 MBps (write)
Atto: 284 MBps (read, 256mb); 107 MBps (compose, 256mb)
Sisoft Sandra (KPT): 2.4
There are few convertible laptops that offer this set of features within this price range. The Lenovo IdeaPad 110S has a lot worse hardware set with the sole position out point being truly a 1-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365.
If you can install with Google’s ChromeOS, then the Inspiron Chromebook 1 1 2 In 1 convertible laptop from Dell, is still a stylish alternative at $299.99, even more so given that it is just a rugged device that could withstand some serious abuse and comes with proper full size ports.
H P, amongst the most important computer brands, is the one which delivers the more compelling models with the $389 HP Chromebook 1 1 G6 EE being our preference provided that the OS isn’t an problem. While it sports a much diminished Celeron CPU, it comes with double the RAM (8GB) and a full collection of ports and 100GB of Google-Drive storage for two years.
The best choice to the Jumper EZBook X 1 though stays the Teclast F 5. It is somewhat cheaper at $300 and comes with a single 128GB SSD that eliminates the matter of owning two separate storage components. It also has twice the amount of memory (8GB) and there’s even a stylus to it.
The business accept
Out of the typical caveats associated with purchasing products from Mainland China (and typical service conundrums), there is the simple fact that the Teclast F 5 is a much far better alternative altogether because of extra memory, service for an active stylus, a unified storage arrangement and a less expensive price .
There isn’t much choosing the EZBook X1 (which intrinsically is not just a terrible product) given that share the exact identical hardware specification sheet. The shape factor is appealing for those looking for a (much) more economical alternative to the Microsoft Surface Go tablet with keyboard cover.
